Social Responsibility – Socially Responsible
These are terms we’ve all heard of late, and all roads lead back to being greener. Especially when corporations are speaking about their efforts of reduce, reuse, and recycle.
I however, can and will put a slightly different spin on this. Being Socially Responsible as a business owner in 2011 means embracing the Social Universe that exists. And by embracing and being more Socially Responsible it means utilizing the current tools that are available. Take your marketing from print which no one reads, and all it does is kill trees, and go Social. Stop having tons of Chotchkie’s made to hand out at trade shows, all you’re doing is contributing to landfills as well as the chemicals used to create them, tell your clients your investing in them instead. Use Social Media and Social MarCom to create value for your clients by delivering your messages digitally, and allowing for feedback and reviews, which sometime may hurt to hear and see, but in the end will make you better. What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger, so true for Social MarCom.

I will admit I was a bit ceerped out at first by friends and fellow acquaintances on social networking sites being able to see where I would shop, dine, and travel. Being in the hollywood scene this has sure been a hot topic! However I do enjoy the local reviews of restaurants, shops, etc. As all of these new social networking devices have in common, they’re good in moderation And when their powers are used for good!
